Work set by Mrs Jones – July 13th

HOME LEARNING  Y4/5

Bore da pawb. Hope you are all keeping well. A few different bits and bobs for you to have a go at this week. Enjoy!

ENGLISH

Read this poem carefully. Notice how it repeats the ‘What I like/What I hate’ phrases in alternating verses. Think of something you could write your own Hate/Like poem about. You could choose bedtime, school, brother/sister, shopping, chewing gum, or any ideas of your own.

Don’t forget:

  • alternate the hate and like sentence starters
  • use powerful verbs (doing words)
  • use imaginative adjectives (describing words)
  • set it out in poetic lines (check the poem above) not a paragraph

SPELLING

Write each of these groups of words in the past tense. Then write a spelling rule about what you discover about each different group.

Group A     look     show     load     lick     ask     wish

Group B     cry     carry     bury     hurry     worry     empty

Group C     tap     chat     hum     stop     beg     slap
